Central heating is provided by an air source heat pump with innovative ThermaSkirt heat emitters in most rooms.
ThermaSkirt by DiscreteHeat looks like conventional skirting board. However, its unique, patented, attractive aluminium profile cleverly incorporates heating technology which will warm the room up in minutes, is completely controllable and will free up valuable wall space, eliminating the need for large radiators or the complexity of underfloor heating.
In the kitchen, which is often the most difficult room to heat due to lack of free wall space, special ThermaSkirt colour-matched kitchen plinths have been fitted underneath the base units, showing even more flexibility of the product.
In one of the bedrooms, a ‘dry’ alternative has been installed, using ThermaSkirt E. This demonstrates a perfect heating solution for new builds which are well insulated and have low energy requirements. In these cases, no ‘wet’ heating pipework would be needed in the house, little service or maintenance is required and the system will respond quickly to a demand for heat. And with a growing proportion of the electricity we use being generated from renewable sources, this can help to further reduce the carbon footprint of the home.
Housebuilders such as Vistry Group are keen to demonstrate their commitment to net-zero. This latest innovation project shows how a home can remain warm and comfortable with a low temperature heat pump system, without the need for oversized radiators or underfloor heating. ThermaSkirt is simply installed onto the two-pipe ‘wet’ heating circuit and can then be controlled either by a mechanical timer and thermostat or by a smart thermostat using an app.
