Fitting renewables in older properties is often problematic, as the larger emitters that they require to perform efficiently can be difficult to install. When Ian Rogers opted to install a Dimplex ground source heat pump, he opted to fit ThermaSkirt – despite working for one of the UK’s largest manufacturers of under floor heating pipe!
The surface area of the ThermaSkirt enables us to run at low grade temperatures. It also allows us to weather compensate control the heat pump, maximising the efficiency, as well as letting us run at higher temperatures when the outside temperature is really low as our bungalow is from the 70s. Being so discrete, it helped enable the minimalistic, low maintenance home we were after. I couldn’t face the disruption in taking up all my floors, even though the UFH materials would have cost me nothing.
